Our Religious Education Vision
Religious Education is an integral part of everyday life at Fulwood St. Peter’s Primary School reflecting its importance in developing pupils’ understanding of faith, values, and the world around them. We follow the Blackburn Diocese’s Questful RE scheme, which we thoughtfully adapt to meet the specific needs of our pupils and the context of our school community. All staff and stakeholders are firmly committed in the belief that Religious Education is a vital part of our curriculum. It helps children make sense of the world around them, understand the beliefs and values of others, and reflect on their own ideas and experiences. Through R.E., pupils develop respect, empathy, and moral awareness—skills that are essential for life in a diverse and ever-changing society. Religious Education is a core subject in our school and appropriate time is allocated as such. The R.E. subject lead seeks to continually make improvements to R.E. teaching and learning. New staff are supported in their R.E. teaching and the quality of R.E is regularly monitored through pupil discussion, book looks and discussion with staff. Our curriculum is broad, balanced, and inclusive, offering rich opportunities for pupils to engage with the beliefs and practices of world faiths. Through thoughtful discussion and meaningful learning experiences, children develop self-awareness, open-mindedness, and respect for diverse perspectives. As a result, they grow into confident, compassionate individuals who recognise their intrinsic worth and their potential to make a positive difference in the world.
