Fulwood St Peters 2024 Online Safety Song

Internet Safety Day 2025

In Reception we have been learning about what to do if we have a problem on our tablets. We need to tell an adult.

Year 1 have been learning about how to avoid online scams. We completed an online safety quiz to beat the scammers and were rewarded with our own safety shield badges. We enjoyed making these and explaining how to stay safe online.

  • The scams might try and trick you - Vedant
  • You should not click on things that you don't know because it might be a scam - Elham
  • We have learnt not to share our passwords - Abeeha

In Year 2 we were looking at scams and how to identify one. We also discussed what we should do if we see a scam.

We then were able to state what information is personal and what isn't. We learnt that personal information should never be shared as it puts us at risk!

We had a discussion about who our trusted adults can be. The children said the following:

  • Teachers - Libby
  • Policeman - Dougie
  • Mummy and Daddy - Emilie
  • After school club - Daniel

After all our learning, we took part in a quiz.

On the 11th of February 2025 we celebrated Online Safety Day!

This years theme is Too good to be true? Protecting yourself and others from scams online.

We began by watching a Safer Internet Day Live Lesson. Through this lesson we stepped into the virtual world of Scam Smashers!

During this live lesson, we learnt how to outsmart digital tricksters to protect our personal information.

As a class we thought about what are favourite thing to do online is?

  • Watch YouTube
  • Play games
  • Buy things online
  • Send messages
  • Use it to help with my homework

This years theme is based on ‘Scams,’ during the live lesson and throughout online safety day we learnt that a scam is a way of tricking people into handing over money or personal information. Plus, this can be done either online or offline.

We learnt that sometimes things we see on line are not as good as they appear. These are called scams.

To remember what a scam is we learnt that;

  • Sounds too good to be true.
  • Contact you did not expect.
  • Asking for personal information
  • Money or trade is asked for.

Protecting Ourself Online

We analysed a profile to identify some things that could be improved to make the profile safer.

A scam or not?

To test our knowledge we sorted scenarios based on whether we thought it was a scam or not.

We also learnt that companies and scammers use certain techniques to grab your attention and hook you in. This is called ‘phishing’ because it hooks you into their scam. Remember to think “Is this too good to be true…?”

Generating a Safe Password

Part of being safe online is to protect your accounts. We played a dice game to generate a safe password. Here are some we came up with;

Today, Year 6 have celebrated Internet Safety Day. We started the session off with a quiz which revolved around a range of scenarios which may happen to us when we are online. We had multiple choice answers in which to decide what to do in each scenario.

The next task was to read a range of situations and decide which of the following best suited that particular situation.

The options included:

  • Sounds too good to be true.
  • Contact you did not expect.
  • Asking for personal information
  • Money or trade is asked for.

Not a scam.

Next, we focused on the aspect of ‘Phishing.’ We looked at this word and how people or companies could 'hook' you in to gain your details or even money.

We created posters on how to be aware of these things and helpful information using Microsoft Word.
