As part of our V.E Day celebrations, Year 1 wrote prayers thinking about what they would like to say thank you for and the sacrifices that others made for us.
KS2
Year 3
Today Year 3 celebrated Victory in Europe Day!
We learnt that it had been 80 years since the end of the Second World War.
What is VE Day and why do we celebrate it?
- VE Day stands for Victory in Europe Day - Mahdi
- It marks the end of World War 2 - Jaxon
- World War 2 went on for 6 years! - Ava
- Over 60 million people died. - Lottie
We also listened to Winston Churchill speech on VE Day in 1945 when he declared to the United Kingdom that the war has ended.
We also looked at how VE Day was celebrated in 1945.
During our VE Day celebrations we also watched a real life story of Marzenna Schejbal. She shared her story of how her life was like during and after the Second World War.
As part of our learning for VE Day we wrote a poem and designed a poster based on being thankful towards the soldiers who scarified their lives.
