Music Vision Statement
At Fulwood St. Peter’s we feel that music is important in forming the collectiveness which unites the school in daily song. Music is a time of enjoyment, celebration and development of our pupils’ emotional well-being and confidence. Bespoke planning is created by teachers and linked to build upon thematic areas of the foundation subjects enhancing pupil understanding and experience. Pupils have choice about the instruments and genre within performance lessons. The composition elements of creating music enhance pupil independent thinking and allow them to explore and develop their self-belief. Performing individually and ensemble ensures pupils develop respect for each other and ensemble composition and performance offers them the opportunities to take the lead within small teams. Each week pupil have the opportunity to listen and appraise real-life music from history in our appreciation assemblies.

Choices
Reception- playing a tune and singing a song!
Year 1 - We listened to the story of 'The Three Little Pigs'. We looked at the musical instruments and talked about which ones would match straw, sticks and bricks. We then chose the instrument and added it to the story.
Year 6 - The children have been choosing their own notation and dynamics in order to create the own piece of music using the pentatonic scale. The children used a stave to produce their notation and also performed their piece. "We used fortissimo to show our music go much louder." (Quote from child). "We included pianissimo in one part because the music went much quieter and this part of the song needed to be quiet." (Quote from child).
